What is in-home physical therapy?
In-home physical therapy is one-on-one outpatient physical therapy delivered in your home instead of a clinic. A licensed physical therapist from No Limit Physical Therapy travels to you to evaluate, treat, and guide you through exercises in the space where you live and move every day. Learn more about our physical therapy services.
Does Original Medicare cover in-home physical therapy?
Yes. Original Medicare Part B covers medically necessary outpatient physical therapy, including outpatient therapy provided in your home. No Limit Physical Therapy accepts Original Medicare Part B. Learn more on our Medicare physical therapy page.
How much will I pay with Original Medicare?
After you meet the yearly Part B deductible, Medicare generally pays 80% of the Medicare-approved amount and you are responsible for the remaining 20% coinsurance. If you have a supplemental (Medigap) plan, it may cover some or all of that 20%.
Do you accept Medicare Advantage plans?
No. We accept Original Medicare Part B and private pay only. We do not accept Medicare Advantage or commercial insurance plans. See our comparison of Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage for physical therapy.
What is private pay physical therapy?
Private pay means you pay directly for your sessions with clear, upfront pricing. Without insurance limits, your therapist can recommend the type and frequency of care that best fits your goals. Learn more about private pay physical therapy or our New Patient Special.
Is there a limit on how many therapy visits Medicare covers?
There is no hard yearly cap on medically necessary outpatient therapy under Original Medicare. Once your therapy costs pass an annual threshold, your therapist documents that continued care is medically necessary so coverage can continue.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to start?
You can start physical therapy without a prescription under California’s Direct Access laws. If you use Original Medicare, your physician will sign off on your plan of care, and our team coordinates that for you.
Is No Limit Physical Therapy a home health agency?
No. We are an outpatient Part B practice that treats you at home. You do not need to be homebound, and your sessions are one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist. Read our comparison of home health vs. outpatient in-home physical therapy.
Do I have to be homebound to receive in-home therapy?
No. Medicare home health requires you to be homebound, but outpatient Part B therapy at home does not. You can receive our in-home care while still driving, working, and leaving the house.
Can I receive in-home Part B therapy while on home health?
Generally, no. While you are under an active Medicare home health plan of care, therapy is provided through the home health agency. Once your home health episode ends, you can transition to outpatient in-home therapy with us.
Why choose in-home therapy instead of a clinic?
In-home therapy saves travel time, removes the stress of driving and parking while you are in pain, and lets your therapist tailor treatment to your real home environment. Compare the options on our home PT vs. clinic PT page.
How common are falls in older adults?
About one in four adults age 65 and older falls each year, and falls are a leading cause of injury in older adults. Many falls can be prevented with strength, balance, and home safety changes.
Can physical therapy help prevent falls?
Yes. Our fall prevention program combines balance and strength training, walking practice, and a home safety review to lower your risk of falling. Learn more about balance disorder treatment.
What should I do if I feel dizzy or unsteady?
Talk with your physician about new dizziness, and consider a balance evaluation. Physical therapy can treat inner ear causes of dizziness, improve balance, and help you feel steadier on your feet.
Who do you typically treat?
We primarily treat seniors who want to stay strong and independent and busy working professionals who want expert care without the commute. Visit our in-home physical therapy for seniors page to learn more.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat low back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, arthritis, knee, hip, and neck pain, sports injuries, balance and gait disorders, and neurological conditions, along with post-surgical rehabilitation. See our full What We Treat list.
Which areas of San Diego do you serve?
We serve communities throughout San Diego, including La Jolla, University City, Clairemont, Pacific Beach, Mission Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas, and Carlsbad. See all neighborhoods on our Areas of Service page.
What should I have ready for my first visit?
Have your photo ID, Medicare card if applicable, a list of current medications, and any recent medical records or imaging reports. Wear comfortable clothing and clear a small area of floor space. New patient forms are on our Patient Info / Forms page.
How long does each in-home session last?
Most sessions last about 45 to 60 minutes. Your first visit may run slightly longer because it includes a full evaluation and the creation of your personalized plan of care.
When will I start feeling better?
Many patients notice improvement within the first few sessions. Long-standing or complex conditions may take several weeks, and your therapist will review your progress at each visit.
Do you provide therapy before and after surgery?
Yes. We offer pre-surgical physical therapy to prepare your body and in-home post-surgical rehabilitation after joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, spine surgery, and other procedures.
