In-Home Physical Therapy Covered by Original Medicare Part B
No Limit Physical Therapy accepts Original Medicare Part B for one-on-one outpatient physical therapy delivered in your home anywhere in our San Diego service area. You do not need to be homebound, and you work with the same licensed physical therapist from evaluation to discharge. If you have a supplemental (Medigap) plan, it may cover some or all of your coinsurance. Call (858) 769-6069 to confirm your eligibility and schedule.
Request an AppointmentHow Original Medicare Covers In-Home Physical Therapy
Original Medicare Part B covers medically necessary outpatient physical therapy, and outpatient therapy can be delivered in your home. After you meet the yearly Part B deductible, Medicare generally pays 80% of the Medicare-approved amount and you are responsible for the remaining 20% coinsurance. Many Medigap plans help cover that 20%.
There is no hard annual cap on medically necessary therapy under Original Medicare. Once your therapy costs pass a yearly threshold, your therapist documents that continued care is medically necessary so coverage can continue.
What You Need to Get Started
- An active Original Medicare Part B plan (Medicare Advantage plans are not accepted)
- Your Medicare card and any supplemental (Medigap) card
- A physician who will sign your plan of care; our team handles the coordination
- A San Diego address within our service area
Under California’s Direct Access laws, you can begin your evaluation without a prescription. Medicare then requires your physician to certify the plan of care your therapist creates.
Outpatient In-Home Therapy vs. Home Health
Medicare home health requires you to be homebound and is provided through a home health agency. Our care is outpatient Part B therapy that happens to take place at home, so you can still drive, work, and leave the house. You also receive full one-on-one sessions focused on getting you stronger and back to your normal activities. Learn more in our comparison of home health vs. outpatient in-home physical therapy.
Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage
We accept Original Medicare Part B only. Medicare Advantage plans are run by private insurers with their own networks and rules, and we are not in-network with them. If you have Medicare Advantage, you can still work with us through private pay physical therapy. See our guide to Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage for physical therapy.

Medicare Physical Therapy FAQs
Does Original Medicare cover in-home physical therapy?
Yes. Original Medicare Part B covers medically necessary outpatient physical therapy, including outpatient therapy provided in your home by No Limit Physical Therapy.
How much will I pay?
After the Part B deductible, you typically pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount. A supplemental (Medigap) plan may cover some or all of that coinsurance.
Do I have to be homebound?
No. Homebound status is required for Medicare home health, not for outpatient Part B therapy at home.
Do you accept Medicare Advantage?
No. We accept Original Medicare Part B and private pay only. Patients with Medicare Advantage can work with us on a private pay basis.
Is there a limit on visits?
There is no hard yearly cap on medically necessary therapy. Above an annual threshold, your therapist documents medical necessity so coverage can continue.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
You can start with an evaluation under Direct Access. Medicare requires your physician to sign your plan of care, and our team coordinates that for you.
Can I get in-home Part B therapy while on home health?
Generally, no. While you are under an active Medicare home health plan of care, therapy is provided by the home health agency. You can start with us once that episode ends.
