What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy (PT) is a healthcare profession that focuses on helping individuals improve function and movement as well as overall physical abilities in order to enhance their quality of life. The purpose of a physical therapist is to identify and evaluate the clear and underlying causes of a patient’s symptoms and to formulate an individualized program consisting of evidence-based physical therapy treatments and exercises to help treat and prevent the patient’s physical impairments and symptoms.

During a typical PT session here at NLPT, the first half is focused on providing pain relief and reducing symptoms through hands-on therapy and the second half generally consists of teaching new and versatile exercises that will help maintain the progress made in the first half. Every individual is different and therefore will require different treatments and exercises, so not all sessions will be the same! This is what it means to us here at No Limit Physical Therapy.

PT can treat a wide variety of physical conditions involving the muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, nerves, and many other aspects of our physical body. But, physical therapy is not only about the ‘physical’ part of the body, it is also about healing the mind, hence the ‘therapy’ part of the profession. Many other PT clinics fail to recognize the psychological or mental part of the recovery process, but at No Limit Physical Therapy, it is one of our main priorities.

For us, it is not just about getting your body better, it is about taking the time to understand your feelings and pain and assisting you towards creating a strong and healthy mindset about your well-being.
